Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers is a book that helps people to accept fears and live their life the way they want to live it.  So that they can get away from pain, paralysis & depression… start living with power, energy, and enthusiasm.

First of all we need to meet our fears – “Fear is holding you back from experiencing life the way you want to” then categorize it as per three levels of fear

 1) Level One Fears: Fear that permeates many areas of our life (Those that “Happen” – aging, becoming disabled, etc. and those that “Require Action” – changing careers, loosing weight, etc.)

2) Level Two Fears: These fears have to do with our “inner state of mind” rather than our exterior situations – rejection, success, failure…

 3) Level Three Fears: I can’t handle it! (At the bottom of every one of our fears is simply the fear that we can’t handle whatever life may bring us).

 Secondly we need to realize Fears never go away –  Basic truths of fear are…

 Truth #1 – The fear will never go away as long as you continue to grow.

 Truth #2 – The only way to get rid of the fear of doing something is to go out and do it.

Truth #3 – The only way to feel better about yourself is to go out…and do it! Make deposits into our self-confidence bank.

 Truth #4 – Not only am I going to experience fear whenever I’m on unfamiliar territory, but so is everyone else.

 Truth #5 – Pushing through the fear is less frightening than living with the underlying fear that come from a feeling of helplessness.

  Some quick checklist for all …………

  • We don’t blame others for anything we are being, doing, having, or feeling
  • We do not beat up on ourselves
  • We are aware of when we are not taking responsibility so we can change
  • We are handling the “chatterbox” in our head
  • We are aware of the payoff that is keeping us stuck
  • We are setting goals and working towards them
  • We understand that we have choices in any given situation
  • When we learn to handle our fear, we move from a position of pain to one of power!
  • If you are positive you attract positive people.
  • Seek out for mentors & friends
  • Strive for healthy assertiveness..
  • Appreciate others when they are supporting you & help you grow.
  • Be your own best friend.
  • Learn to trust that we will survive, no matter what happens.
  • Create richness for yourself that nothing can ever take away your basic sense of completeness.
  • Consciously accept what is happening in your life.
  • Tune your subconscious mind
  • Best of all Be Patient

Raise Your Self-esteem

Feelings of low self-esteem may be triggered by being treated poorly by someone else recently or in the past, or by a person’s own judgments of him or herself. This is normal.

 However, low self-esteem is a constant companion for too many people, especially those who experience depression, anxiety, phobias, psychosis, delusional thinking, or who have an illness or a disability.

 To help relieve these feelings, let your friends know what you are going through. Have a good cry if you can. Do things to relax. Specially tell yourself — “I am a very special, unique, and valuable person. I deserve to feel good about myself.”

 Self-esteem, Depression and Other Illnesses

 Before you begin to consider strategies and activities to help raise your self-esteem, it is important to remember that low self-esteem may be due to depression. Low self-esteem is a symptom of depression. To make things even more complicated, the depression may be a symptom of some other illness. 

Things You Can Do Right Away—Every Day—to Raise Your Self-esteem

 Pay attention to your own needs and wants.

Take very good care of yourself.

Eat healthy foods and avoid junk foods

Exercise.

Do personal hygiene tasks that make you feel better about yourself

Have a physical examination every year to make sure you are in good  health.

Plan fun activities for yourself. Learn new things every day.

Take time to do things you enjoy.

Get something done that you have been putting off.

Do things that make use of your own special talents and abilities.

Dress in clothes that make you feel good about yourself.

Give yourself rewards.

Spend time with people who make you feel good about yourself

Make your living space a place that honors the person you are.

Display items that you find attractive or that remind you of your achievements or of special times or people in your life.

Make your meals a special time.

Take advantage of opportunities to learn something new or improve your skills.

Breathing Therapy Makes you Relax

The nose has a left and a right side; we use both to inhale and exhale.

Actually they are different; you would be able to feel the difference.The right side represents the sun, left side represents the moon.

During a headache, try to close your right nose and use your left nose to breathe. In about 5 mins, your headache will go.  

If you feel tired, just reverse, close your left nose and breathe through your right nose. After a while, you will feel your mind is refreshed.

Right side belongs to ‘hot’, so it gets heated up easily, left side belongs to ‘cold’.

Do you notice the moment we wake up, which side breathes faster? Left or right? ?

If left is faster, you will feel tired.  So, close your left nose and use your right nose for breathing, you will get refreshed quickly.

This alternative natural therapy without medication is something that he has experienced.

So, why not give it a try?

Detachment !! Love more ??

Detachment—like love, it’s a state of being …Detachment is about the soul leaving everything behind and ‘journeying’ to its Lord.
 
One of the reasons I took to the concept of detachment like a duck to water was that I was compelled by the argument that,

When you  are in love—with a person or a thing—is that it becomes the centre of our inner universe. .Over a period of time that person’s  world began to stop revolving around you. This causes friction because that person  will  still the centre of your universe.  Its an universal phenomenon In some way or other, it will change. You are sure to get into depression, you become desperate you feel like running away from everything .. Irony of the tragedy is that you know that is not the answer and is not possible.

Now take a different look at the situation.. nothing will ever change because you want it to change. You need to change …….. nothing in the world asked you to make a person center of our universe that is today making you desolate. Set yourself free… in fact set the person free rather than placing him/ her in the center of your universe binding or compelling them to be there.

Your identity will change your outlook will change the same person can become everything of your life now without confining to the space of your universe. you now become two independent but vastly interconnected people 🙂

There is a saying  “Live free of love, for its very peace is anguish; Its beginning is pain, its end is death.”

Thus  detachment is freedom. Freedom from the bonds of deluding and unrealistic expectations in relationships. To be detached is to let go, of that  anxiety-driven desperation demolishes you frantically want to preserve.

 
One should enjoy the beauty relationship without being caught in its possessive grasp. Possessiveness is a poison : whereas detachment lets you stand by yourself & still be an integral part  relationship.
 
 
It is more about giving space & having your own to explore. By being detached we can get out of that prison if false sense of protection and enjoy the limitless avenue that you can be proud of and soar into unbound horizon . Detachment by itself does not mean separation its just that its more care , faith & courage to an enriched wholesome relation.

Buddhism…. my first look

 I picked these from Buddhism concepts . They seem Interesting and Just . Good for anyone to follow as you will not find a reason not to do 🙂

Some good deeds :

1. Do not kill
2. Do not steal
3. Do not indulge in sexual misconduct
4. No lying
5. No double-tongued speech
6. No abusive speech
7. No irresponsible speech
8. No greed
9. No hatred
10. No delusion

The first three are  Body deeds. The last three are Mind deeds. The remaining four  are deeds performed by Speech.   Body, speech and mind are the three means of actions.

Actions can be evil /good.

Apart from avoiding the evil actions, one can take positive attitude in performing the good actions. The Ten Meritorious Deeds allow people to gain a happy and peaceful life as well as to develop knowledge and understanding are:

1. Charity
2. Morality / Taking Precepts
3. Mental cultivation / Meditation
4. Reverence or respect
5. Services in helping others
6. Transference of merits
7. Rejoicing in the merits of others
8. Preaching and teaching Dharma
9. Listening to the Dharma
10. Straightening one’s own views

 

Not Converting into Buddhism ….. But These are the way of life I can relate to .

Ego – Hurts / Kills / Destryos — The Actual you.

I guess Ego is an Illusion most of us prefer to live with …. Making no sense ?? Read on…

What is you  ???  Who are you ? ? How many of us can really think for a while and answer??

Are you your Name ? Job ? Car ? House ? Horse ? Family ……. Oooops I can go on and on…. But are these you ? They all give us an outer  ‘ You’  … But Does  that make you????

Nopes …. The  ” Inner you ” …..You … Yourself ….. is different .. . that only YOU know.  But inspite of knowing this we try to attach ourseleves to the  limitless things of  the ” Outer self ” and try to identify ourselves with it…

In  the process we lose oueselves… So What is ego?? Ego is this wrongful identification of Self with the ” Outer self ” … and this manifests itself  into ourself so much that we live with it & we identify ourself with Ego. Our ego is a mix of  Emotions & Thoughts . Only when we can detach ourself  from these two we can be ourself.

Someone has said :   ” Life is a Drama and the stage is Set…. We are actors…. ” May be that we embody ourself so much with the role tht we forget ourself … I guess It’s time we remember ourselves…. Feel the ” real self ” … It will be a great   ” Home Coming ” …….

By recognising self …. We will rise above the life’s problems with better self consciousness … We will be Happy , Calm  & Strong … We will be at peace with Self.

This is called inner peace .  Silence of mind.

Father — Begining of the world?? OR End of the world??

Surprisingly neither is  true!!…… knowing my prattle all the while,  I know you guys will read this on too…..

Father — A Big name in a kid’s world ……. especially that little princess who is mostly protected by the ” First Hero ”  of her life ….  all her young years …. Lots of studies have revealed the fact that a father-daughter relationship has the biggest impact on het future partner ….

But ignorant to this fact Mother is given the highest pedestal in a child’s upbringing …… Its such a myopic  misconception we have in our family lives that father is  ONLY the bread winner of the family & thus becomes the  ” Role Model” only to the boy kids assuming  they are going to don the same mantle in the years to come…… and a father is just not expected to know of  Teddy bears / Doll houses / Barbie dolls — of their own dainty little doll ……..

A father’s right care can make that  ” Fragile” girl  really confident to face the realities of the world!! ……… Can U believe Nehru being a forced ” Absent father ” kept in touch with Indira Priyadarshini [ Yeah ….  Our Indira Gandhi ] with a lot of letters he kept writing to her from all over the world… from the prison too…. [ All of them have been compiled into a book ” Glimpses of World History ” ]

A girl keeps observing her Dear old Dad always… funnily enough an ‘ absent father ‘ also!! …

Ironically what ever is the kind of father a girl has she continues to “Seek”  out to a man who is te replica of her Daddy no matter what he is / was …. this psychology is what makes the presence of a ” Right ”  Daddy in a girl’s life more essential…. But again not all are Lucky!!

It is also proven fact that a girl who does not get father’s care becuase of the way he is or because of the absence of a father in her life has her Marital Life doomed from the begining ….. unless a great care and counselling is given by the mother right from the begining …. imbibing the true/strong values of a father even if you did not have one!!!

A father needs to own up the daughter …… alive or dead ….. yeah dead… as the mother will be the true mirror of what the father was and thus father becomes the reason for the whole behavioral pattern of a girl especially her interactions with the men of her life….. and essentially the most important person of her life ….. the husband!! and of course KIDS of her life!!

Even as you read this, your child may be seeking attention elsewhere.  If you aren’t there for the child, you are losing a battle you aren’t even fighting.  Your child  could be seduced by the fantasies portrayed on television.

As a father, you have more power to influence your child than anyone else on earth.  I do not mean discount mothers.    Atleast mothers try & make the attempt, many fathers don’t.   Onevshould be a father who takes an interest in every aspect of your child’s life.  This can be done  only through being there for the child.

The day of the gruff and distant father needs to be put to rest.  If nothing else, a child needs someone to talk to that he/she can trust.   Fathers should take this role most seriously. 

Why am I thinking…….. all these???  …… I had a great Dad too….. But now all broken thoughts……..
